Hotel Photography FAQ

Quick answers about planning, brand standards, usage, and deliverables.

We are approved to shoot all Hyatt brands. We are officially on the lists for Hilton's Luxury, Lifestyle, and All Suites brands and also shoot regularly for Hilton Full Service and Focused Service brands. Brand photographer lists are often in flux and it is difficult for us to keep track of them, but we've found that we can usually get special permission to shoot anything, given our experience and portfolio. Branded properties we have shot in the past include: Hilton: Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Hilton, DoubleTree, Canopy, Curio, Tapestry, Tempo, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, Home2 Suites; Hyatt: Thompson, Andaz, Destination by Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, JdV by Hyatt; IHG: InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, Even, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Resort, Holiday Inn Express; Omni; Belmond; Taj; Loews; Millennium; Best Western; Choice Ascend Collection; Wyndham; Yotel. (NB: Marriott is much stricter about enforcing their list and though we have successfully shot two dozen properties for them, we haven't cracked that list.)

We love to shoot independent and boutique properties! We've shot everything from cozy inns to large resorts. Independent ownership comes with greater creative freedom, so we take that opportunity to learn about what your marketing priorities are, who you want to reach, if and how you would like to prop spaces, what vibe you're going for, etc. We'll work with you to create exactly the images you need.

A typical photo shoot with us starts with pre-production work. Our Studio Manager Michelle will help you develop a shot list that meets your marketing needs, your budget, and brand standards. She'll also work with you to put together an efficient photo shoot schedule that minimizes disruption to your guests. About a week prior to the shoot, your team will have a pre-production phone call with your photographer to discuss how to prepare your guest rooms and public spaces. We ask that representatives from Housekeeping, Engineering, Sales, and F&B join the call. Once on property we'll work with your trusted decision maker to capture all the images you need, shot to your specifications. Back in the studio, our retoucher Val will get to work on your images and have a first edit posted to our web portal for your review within 10 business days. We'll then work with your team to refine the images until you're totally happy with them. Finally, we'll deliver your high-resolution jpegs, formatted to brand standards.

We'd like to get 6 weeks notice, but we also understand that hotel opening and hotel renovation shoots move all the time because of construction delays. We won't charge you to reschedule unless there's a significant increase in travel costs. Because rescheduling is so common, we often end up with unexpected gaps in our schedule, meaning we can sometimes be available on short notice. If you've got a need, get in touch. Don't worry that it's last minute or too far in advance to be certain of dates.

We're based in Savannah, GA and New York City, but we travel all over the United States and the Caribbean to shoot. We have photographed hotels in: Aruba, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia. That's 36 states - help us fill in the remaining 14! We seem to be especially popular with hotels in NYC, Atlanta, Boston, Charleston, Nashville, Orlando, and of course Savannah.

You can see a detailed list here. But the short version is that we specialize in all the imagery that hotels and resorts need for their websites: architecture, drone, lifestyle, food & beverage, neighborhood, 360's, virtual tours, masthead videos, and full property videos. We can also shoot social media photos and video while we're on property so you get the most bang for your buck. We offer multiple levels of photo retouching and video editing, and we prepare files to your specifications.

We do! We can work with either amateur or professional talent depending upon your hotel's budget. Some hotels use their staff, friends, and family as models, and some want us to cast from professional modeling agencies and bring in a wardrobe stylist, hair and make-up artist, and on-site producer. We can do either of those and everything in between. Our photographers are great at working with all types of models, directing them, making them feel comfortable, and creating images that feel natural and authentic.

We have two photographers - Greg Ceo and John McKinnon, they both have decades of experience and we can't tell their hotel work apart. Greg studied photography as a high school student at Interlochen Arts Academy and holds a BFA in photography from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and an MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He has been a hospitality photographer for the past 15 years, and before that he shot advertising photography for Fortune 500 companies and for Getty Images, and taught photography at SCAD and Interlochen. John holds a BFA in Photography from SCAD and has 30 years of experience as an Architectural, Portrait, and Advertising photographer, including spending 10 years as SCAD's in-house Director of Photography. He first earned his FAA drone pilot's license in 2018 and he has 10 years experience as a videographer as well. If you hire us, Greg or John will photograph your property. We are a photo studio, not a tech company, and we do not hire random photographers just because they happen to live in your city. Similarly, our extremely skilled and experienced retoucher Valentin Sivyakov is on staff - we don't send your retouching abroad.
